I have worked for the city for 40 plus years. I started with the street department in July of 1982 moving to the water department then deputy public works director and finally public works director. I’ve helped the city through the flood of 1983, many windstorms, fires on the hillside, earthquakes and making the roads passable during snowstorms. Now in my later years, I enjoy working to save our citizens from increased costs by applying for grants to improve our water system, street and drainage structures. Our team was awarded a 1.5-million-dollar grant for a new reservoir in 2022. Our team has received many grants for water meter upgrades, road projects and drainage projects and bike and walking trails.
I attribute my success to the training and help I received from my many mentors from Rural Water of Utah, Intermountain AWWA Section, American Backflow Association.
Some of the recognitions I have received are: Intermountain AWWA Outstanding Water Operator in 2003, Rural Water of Utah Extra Miler Award in 2020, Intermountain AWWA Section Charles W. Wilson (Mr. Water) Memorial Service Award in 2022-2023 for years of service, leadership, mentoring, contribution to the industry and vision, Friend of Rural Water award 2023, and I have contributed to many other awards the city has received. I enjoy giving back to the citizens of Centerville and am thankful to them for helping provide for my family all of these years.
