    What if I want to change out my mailbox?


    Enclosed mailboxes must meet USPS standards of a height of 41-45 inches and not exceed 18 inches by 18 inches measured at the base.

    What if I plant a tree without a permit?        

    Your trees may be subject to removal or other enforcement action  

    Do my trees have to be maintained to specific specifications?

    All Park strip-trees must be trimmed 13 feet above the street and 8 feet above the sidewalk. 

    Does the City clean the leaves, and branches from the street and sidewalk?

    No, the property owner must clean all leaves, fruit, branches, nuts and other items produced and fallen from the tree.

    Does the City regulate how close I can plant to a corner or driveway?

    Yes, for safety you must maintain a visual triangle of the street and driveway.  See the following diagram for detail

  5. All trees planted within a park-strip require a permit to be reviewed and approved by the Public Works Department.  Only park-strips four feet wide or greater are allowed to have trees planted in them.  


  6.  Within 11.02.080 of the Municipal Code, a list of acceptable trees is given. However, other trees may be approved by the Public Works Department if they are similar to those already approved.

  8. Trees must be planted 20 feet from another park-strip tree and 30 feet from a public safety sign

  9. Are any trees going to be planted within the visual site triangle?*

    For safety you must maintain a visual triangle of the street and driveway. 

    Nothing over 2 feet high can be within a triangular area measured at the joint of the asphalt and gutter line and points connecting them at 50 feet.

    Nothing over 2 feet high can be within a triangular area measured at the driveway line and 12 feet along the street curb line measured at the joint of the asphalt and gutter line. 

    • Rock/Gravel must be at least 1.5 inches in diameter.
    • All vegetation and landscaping material must not exceed two feet in height
    • Bark, mulch and wood chips greater than one inch are prohibited
    • Asphalt or cement within the park-strip may be allowed by special permission by the Public Works Department.  Brick (not cemented in) rock pavers and flat stones are permitted.

    I acknowledge that I have read Chapter 11.02 Parkstrips And Parkstrip Trees  of the Municipal Code regarding park-strips; and am aware of the guidelines that I must follow in planting, or placing vegetation or objects within the park-strip, or visual triangle.  I am also aware that if I do not follow the Municipal Code, that I will be subject to enforcement action as found in 11.02.090 Enforcement of the Municipal Code.  The items within the park-strip may be subject to removal either by myself or the Public Works Department at any time.
