Chicken Rabbit & Bee Keeping

You may apply for a permit to raise up to a combined total of 10 head of chickens and/or rabbits(no more than six may be rabbits) on property in Agricultural zones or the Residential‑Low (R‑L) zone for personal, non‑commercial use. Roosters are not allowed, and any that hatch must be removed within five months.

Applications and related documents are submitted electronically through the City’s GovWell portal.

1. You will need to sign up with GovWell to apply. In the upper right corner, there is a sign up option. Click the "Sign in" button 

2. Click "Sign Up" 

3. Fill out contact information and be prepared to recieve a email from GovWell to verify login criteria

4. You will be brought to the landing page, click "Planning Applications" 

5. Click "Chicken/Rabbit Ownership"

The application must include a site plan showing coop location, dimensions, and setbacks. Permits are non‑transferable and expire after 12 months of non‑use.
