Sanitation

The Streets Division is responsible for maintaining city roads and ensuring safe travel year-round. Services include snow removal, pothole repair, crack sealing, road sign repair, and much more. Our goal is to keep streets safe, accessible, and well-maintained for residents and visitors.

Garbage

Garbage pickup is defined by locating your address on the map.

If your black or green trash can is broken or needs repair, please call Public Works and file a work order. The standard for repairing the can is that it cannot hold trash anymore, and the lid is not functioning properly. Any questions, please contact Public Works.

Blue Cans are repaired by Ace Disposal. 801-363-9995

Green trash cans may be used as regular trash cans from November 30th  through March 1st.

If your trash pickup was missed, please contact Ace Disposal to schedule a pickup. 801-363-9995

Glass Recycling

Glass recycling is now available FREE to the public at Centerville Community Park - 1350 N 400 W, on the east side of the park (look for the white vinyl fence). Please clean up your mess if the glass breaks.

1. Holiday Trash Pick Up

When a collection day falls on one of the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, or Christmas Day, the collection will be delayed by one day.

2. Do I need to rinse the cans?

If you flip your can upside down, shake it, and nothing comes out, you’re good to go! As long as the can is empty and dry, it is okay to be tossed in.

3. What about aluminum foil, trays, and pie pans?

These are also recyclable, but they must be squeaky clean. The issue we have run into is people tossing their dirty ones in, which means they will be landfilled. We have stopped saying we accept them for this reason. Usually, when I get this question, and I can tell they are diligent with their recycling, I will give them the explanation and give them the okay to toss them in, again, as long as they’re clean.

4. What about aerosol spray cans?

We are in the process of removing aerosol spray cans from our guide as well, because they aren’t being emptied, and there are some issues with hazardous waste. When people ask about this, I say that food spray cans (like oil sprays, whipped cream, etc.) can go in as long as they are completely empty. No cleaners, pesticides/insecticides, or spray paint cans.

5. When recycling metal cans, do I need to remove the label?

         No

6. How do I dispose of asbestos?

Asbestos EPA
